Our lab is now up and running in the Molecular Biology Department at the University of Wyoming!

I am interested in the fundamental mechanisms of extreme stress tolerance. I use tardigrades (water bears) as a model system to identify and characterize novel mediators of stress tolerance.

My research combines molecular and cell biological techniques, with next-generation sequencing, biochemistry, bioinformatics, analytical chemistry, and genetic engineering.

Tardigrades are microscopic, multicellular animals that survive a number of abiotic stresses including: desiccation, freezing and boiling temperatures, intense ionizing radiation, and extremes in pressure - including the vacuum of outer space!
